On October 13, 2021, Professor Carpenter presented “Capital Voir Dire in the Military” at the Joint Complex (Capital) Defenders Course, a course dedicated to improving the military’s ability to defend service members in capital courts-martial. The conference occured in Washington, DC, and included defense counsel from across the services. Professor Carpenter’s presentation explored the social and cognitive psychology principles that underlie the Morgan method of voir dire and how that method could be applied in the military context.
