MIAMI (April 9, 2024) – FIU Law once again ranked as the #1 law school in South Florida according to U.S. News and World Report, which today released its annual ranking of law schools. The College’s No. 68 overall ranking also placed it among the top three law schools in the state and No. 37 nationally among all public law schools. Its annual in-state tuition of $21,407 also ranked among the country’s top 20 most affordable law schools.

“Being the only publicly supported law school in Florida’s largest metropolitan area allows us to continuously develop our program of legal education to meet the demands of a changing profession. It also affords our students much greater freedom to choose their preferred career paths,” said Dean Antony Page.

U.S. News last year revised its rankings methodology to evaluate institutions more pointedly on their graduates’ results, and FIU Law’s graduate outcomes have long rated among the best in the country. On the most recent bar exam, FIU earned the highest first-time passage rate for the ninth consecutive year, with 91.1% of graduates passing on their first attempt, and 93% of the College’s most recent graduating class were employed within their first 10 months of graduation.

“Our collective success is reflective of FIU’s role as an engine for economic development in Florida and beyond,” said Page. “Students can learn legal theory or advocacy skills from our talented faculty on Monday and then apply it at their externship in one of the country’s most vibrant legal markets on Tuesday. It makes for a dynamic learning environment.”

The College’s evening division, which historically has attracted working professionals in the region who want to pivot to a career in law, ranked No. 28 nationally for part-time programs (and No. 11 among public law schools). Four of the College’s specialty programs also ranked in the top 50 among public law schools, including international law (No. 18), trial advocacy (No. 18), legal writing (No. 36), and environmental law (No. 49).
