On Sept. 12, 2023, Prof. Carpenter taught at the Joint Capital Defenders Course, hosted by the US Army Trial Defense Service at the Army’s Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, VA. The conference brought together thirty judge advocates from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps who may be called on to defend servicemembers in a capital court-martial. Prof. Carpenter taught “The Morgan Method of Voir Dire in the Military” and “Death is Different.” Students interested in JAG careers should contact Prof. Carpenter at ercarpen@fiu.edu.
