‘420’ refers to cannabis-oriented celebrations that take place annually on April 20. So, it’s a perfect day to talk about the wave of legislation throughout the United States legalizing the use of cannabis or cannabis-derived substances for medicinal or recreational use. While cannabis is still illegal under federal law, most states have legalized the possession and use of cannabis for medical and/or recreational purposes which has prompted an increase in marijuana use across the board. This can create a dilemma for employers in maintaining a safe and productive workplace.
