Congratulations to Gilberto Matute ’13 for starting his own firm, Law Offices of Gilberto L. Matute, which is celebrating its one year anniversary this month. The Law Offices of Gilberto L. Matute, P.A. focuses on payment options, tax dispute revocable trusts, and will drafting. Gilberto defends the rights of taxpayers in front of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which is particularly helpful in South Florida where the Spanish speaking community might be hesitant or afraid to deal with the IRS because of the language barrier. He works extensively to remove or reduce IRS liabilities, and often reaches payment arrangements that are suitable to the taxpayer’s financial abilities.  Gilberto also prepares Wills and Trusts, among other Estate Planning tools, to help individuals and families properly transfer wealth and inheritances while minimizing the future costs of a probate proceeding or estate taxes.

During law school, Gilberto worked with the U.S. Government through the Immigration and Human Rights Legal Clinic at FIU College of Law.
