Mary “Katie” Berney ’19, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps on Nov. 21, 2020. 2ndLt Berney has begun her next training event, The Basic School, and will in Quantico, VA, for the next 6 months. After graduating late June, she will go to the Naval Justice School in New Port, RI, for training in military law.
“Katie has been working extremely hard for several years to reach this goal, and we should all be proud of her accomplishment,” said Professor Eric Carpenter, a retired Army judge advocate. “She will be a great officer and I am excited about her future. The Marine Corps is lucky to have her.”
