Where can you bid on a six course meal with a dean, or dinner and movie with two of your favorite professors? Maybe an adventure – like an afternoon surfing the waves – is more your style. Whatever your tastes, FIU Law’s Public Interest Auction – which will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. at Rafael Diaz Balart Hall (atrium) – is sure to offer something no matter one’s taste! This year’s theme is Casino Nights. Join us for an evening  filled with live music, games and much more! Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Since 2008, FIU Law’s Public Interest Auction has raised nearly $50,000 in scholarship dollars to help students who work during their summers in unpaid, full-time public interest internships. The scholarships give students the ability to explore opportunities in public sector organizations. Organizations that typically help children, persons with disabilities, the undocumented, the elderly and low-income individuals.

Interim Assistant Dean for Students & Assistant Professor of Legal Skills & Values Angelique Ortega Fridman sums up the purpose for the auction this way, “the Public Interest Auction is a wonderful tradition at FIU Law; it’s always great to bring the FIU Law community together for a very worthy cause,” she shared.

For more information, contact Marina Veiga at mveig008@fiu.edu. The auction is open to the public.
