On Saturday, March 28, under the ‘big top,’ FIU Law hosted its annual Barristers’ Bar. Dressed in their snazziest attire, students, faculty and administration celebrated the law school’s many achievements and the closing of another school year. During the evening, guests were entertained by a stilt walker, juggling antics by a roving juggler and an aerialist who was perched on top of a circular, moveable frame. Al-Rod, the “World’s Fastest Caricaturist,” captured the quirky likeness for those who sat for portraits.

The event was held at the JW Marriott in Brickell.

The night also recognized some of FIU Law’s outstanding faculty. During the presentation, Student Bar Association (SBA) President Daniel Horton presented the Pioneer Award to Professor David Walter, the Professor of the Year to Professor Eloisa Rodriguez-Dod and two special recognitions to Interim Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Education, Experiential Learning & Engagement Michelle D. Mason and Zoraya Ledesma who serves as the administrative assistant for the Clinical Program, Externship and Pro Bono Program and Trial Advocacy Program for their tireless efforts.

Additionally, the 2015 commencement hooding committee was revealed. The hooding honors went to Eloisa Rodriguez-Dod, Michele Anglade and Howard Wasserman.

For students it was the time to announce the new 2015-2016 SBA winners. The new board includes: President: Kirk Villalón, Vice President Day Karel Suarez, Vice President Evening Gemma Torcivia, Secretary Gabriel Gonzalez, Treasurer Nicole Peguero, 3L Day Representative Michael Lowe, 2L Day Representative Adam Abecassis, 2L Evening Representative, Michael Pego, ABA Representative Reginald Guillaume and SGA Liason Robert Dominguez.
