Professor Elizabeth Price Foley, a founding member of FIU College of Law and an expert in Constitutional Law, recently provided her expertise in The Wall Street Journal. Her co-authored Op-Ed “Trump’s Trial Violated Due Process” centered on the trial of former President Donald Trump, particularly focusing on whether he received fair treatment under the law. Professor Foley argues that the trial violated fundamental principles of fairness, such as specific charges, the opportunity to defend against them, and proof beyond a reasonable doubt. In addition, she points out flaws in the indictment and trial proceedings, including the failure to specify the alleged additional crime and allowing a non-unanimous verdict on crucial elements.
