WHAT’S NEW ON BLOOMBERG LAW

 June 2021

SECURITIES PRACTICE CENTER

The Securities Practice Center and associated practice pages have been refreshed and reorganized to streamline access to content. Aligned with key securities personas, nine practice pages have been consolidated, and reorganized into four pages without any loss of content, including:

Valuable features include:

  • Securities laws and regulations map, expediting access to state primary sources
  • EDGAR Search graphic, providing access to Bloomberg Law’s superior search functionality
  • Wheel graphics, presenting the most common SEC forms used by securities attorneys in an easy-to-understand format with links to Practical Guidance, secondary sources, and other related content
  • Curated, drop-down search boxes for crucial agency and SRO materials

INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES PAGE

A new International Resources page aggregates the extensive international content on the Bloomberg Law and Bloomberg Tax platforms into a topically organized resource reflecting the breadth of international content across practice areas. Content includes Practical Guidance, In Focus resources, Chart Builders, Trackers, Fast Answers, workflow tools, laws and regulations, treaties and agreements, news, and reference materials—including books and treatises, Portfolios, guides, and country-specific profiles and surveys. Available on the International Trade Practice Center in the Go To tile.

PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

New Data Management Practical Guidance focuses on data management and breach issues that arise in commercial transactions. These documents address how commercial parties are handling the risks of data transfer in their agreements, including issues of confidentiality, data security, and compliance with applicable laws. A key feature of this new content is the collection of annotated sample clauses and form agreements addressing cyber risks from a number of perspectives. Available on the Practical Guidance homepage under Information Technology in the Commercial Transactions tile.

IN FOCUS

California Privacy (CCPA/CPRA)

The California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) introduces significant changes to the California Civil Practice Act (CCPA), of great importance to in-house counsel and privacy attorneys who need guidance on the impact of those changes on the data their company or client’s company handles.

The existing In Focus: California Privacy has been enhanced to include a new Comparison Table: CCPA v. CPRA in the Laws & Regulations tile. It provides invaluable side-by-side analysis to highlight the exact differences between the two laws. An index-style table allows you to easily navigate to individual sections, and each of the sections is searchable individually. Available on the Privacy & Data Security Practice Center and the In Focus homepage.

In Focus: HIPAA

In Focus: HIPAA has been completely updated and enhanced. This page provides a one-stop resource to the extensive and comprehensive Bloomberg Law coverage of legal obligations and resources concerning health information issues. The updated page now includes links to Health Information Technology & Privacy Fast Answers and secondary source materials, and to relevant Health Chart Builders. Available on the Health Practice Center and the In Focus homepage.

TRACKERS

International Trade Investigations

The new Agency Trade Investigations Tracker enables you to stay on top of agency actions for multiple ongoing trade investigations as they occur and to home in on specific products or countries that impact your business. Available on the International Trade Practice Center and the Trackers homepage.

Banking & Finance

A new Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Enforcement Tracker covers enforcement actions from the DOJ and the SEC. It replaces two existing FCPA Enforcement Trackers, adding additional filtering options and a notification capability unavailable in the old trackers. Available on the Banking & Finance Practice Center.

COURT OPINION RESEARCH

Reporter Status filter has been added to court opinion search results allowing you to select Reported vs. Unreported opinions.

BLOOMBERG LAW TREATISES

A new edition of How to Take a Case Before the NLRB is now available. This go-to reference provides guidance on the Board’s complex procedures and is authored by experienced practitioners from the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law. Among the topics covered are:

  • Procedures for obtaining injunctive relief
  • Guidelines for mail-in ballots
  • Prioritization of unfair labor practices cases
  • Rules on attorney misconduct
  • Rules on settlement judges and bench decisions

Updated Prosecuting and Defending Health Care Fraud Cases covers health care fraud from two distinct angles: the applicable law and the federal criminal process. It analyzes trial conducted in a variety of cases, matching the process in the order it takes place during an investigation, after charges are brought, and through to sentencing.

BOOKS & TREATISES REORGANIZED

The Books & Treatises homepage has been revised and greatly expanded to include the titles published by Bloomberg Law as well as licensed content (more than 480 titles). The page uses alphabetical organization throughout to make finding titles simple and intuitive: Tiles are labeled alphabetically by subject matter and each tile lists individual titles alphabetically under their respective publisher.
