“El Derecho de los Estados Unidos” (The Law of the United States) 3 day program organized in partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, was a great success. In the past few years, we have offered similar non-degree programs entirely in Spanish to lawyers and upper-level law students from Latin America, but this one was the first collaborative enterprise between FIU Law and the top Peruvian law school. The General Consul of Peru in Miami, His Excellency Jorge Lázaro Geldres, gave the opening remarks.

This program attracted around 30 participants from: Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and the United States; and also featured a group of first rate lecturers including our distinguished colleague José Gabilondo; the current and a former President of the International Law Section of the Florida Bar, partners from leading international firms such as Hogan Lovells and Jones Day, and the Latin American international arbitration boutiques WDA Legal and Bullard Falla Ezcurra. The program was organized by FIU Law’s  international programs manager Gilberto Guerrero and supported by Lisbeth D’Lima.
