FIU Law students Andrea Vega and Ana Portal participated at the Tenth Latin American International Arbitration competition at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. It was the second time that FIU Law has participated in this competition. Only two of the 48 teams belong to an English-spoken Nation.

This year is also special because our students competed alongside four law students from the Andres Bello Catholic University of Venezuela. the Venezuelan law students were able to travel to Buenos Aires thanks to the generous support of the Miami International Arbitration Foundation (MIAF) and others. MIAF was the lead donor with a contribution of $3,000; a testament of their commitment to help educating the next generation of international arbitration practitioners in the region.

This has proven to be a great opportunity for our students who have been able to learn and collaborate with colleagues from another country. Gilberto Guerrero, International Programs Manager, has assisted Dean Manuel Gomez coach the team, and supervise the students’ work.
