Eighteen FIU Law students spent the day exploring the Everglades where they learned about restoration policy and legal issues from top Everglades expert and Senior Policy Advisor for the Everglades Foundation, Dawn Shirreffs. The students enjoyed a beautiful on the swamp and learned a great deal, right in heart of where it happens. One highlight was the endangered species sighting (the Everglade Snail Kite; one of the fewer than a thousand in existence). During a stop on a small island where a tiny wildlife rehab stands, students were able to each hold a small disabled gator. The day was capped off with a BBQ lunch at the famous Pit restaurant.

The trip was organized by Professor Kalyani Robbins. Her bio is found here.
