The H.T. Smith Black Law Student Association (BLSA) held a state-of-the-community policing event to raise awareness about the recent death of Corey Jones. Jones was shot three times and killed by a plain clothes police officer on October 18. Speakers and panelists included State Representative Hazelle Rogers, State Representative Shevrin Jones, Broward Sheriff Scott Israel and the Jones’ family legal team of Skinner Louis and Kweku Darfoor. BLSA organizers and participants included Scheril Murray, Chanelle Artiles, Terrod Torrence and Jeremy McClymont.
