The Employment and Labor Law Society (ELLS) kicked-off the 2015-2016 academic school year with a roundtable discussion. The lunchtime event featured prominent employment law attorneys, Lauren Fernandez from Shutts & Bowen, and Erin New – a Legal Liaison for Miami-Dade County’s Human Rights and Fair Employment Office.
The room was packed with students eager to hear from the guest speakers.
“By hosting events such as this roundtable, ELLS is fulfilling its mission to connect FIU Law students with employment law practitioners,” President of ELLS DeeDee Bitran shared. “These types of open forums connect the student body with local employment law attorneys and help start the conversation on sexual harassment, disability, discrimination and retaliation claims. It is critical that FIU Law students have the opportunity to meet with practicing attorneys and develop those professional relationships early on in their legal careers. We encourage students interested in this field to join us.”
