On Sunday, March 15, FIU Law’s Small Business Counseling Clinic, through its partnership with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Juan C. Zapata, served as the site for the launch of District 11’s 2015 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. The Mom and Pop Program was created to provide financial and technical assistance to qualified, for-profit small businesses who are approved for funding. The program has allowed small-owned and operated businesses the opportunity to interact with local government.

FIU Law has been selected as one of Commissioner’s Zapata’s community partners.  The law school will provide administrative support and assist with the coordination of the program.  Small Business Counseling students, under the leadership of Director John Little, will provide individual counseling, legal advice as well as offer various Know Your Rights educational programming.
