Students in the Grand Reading Room
Law Library

Welcome to the Law Library and Information Technology section of the FIU College of Law.

The Law Library is a research facility designed to support the work of students and faculty of the Florida International University College of Law. FIU College of Law is a new law school which first opened its doors in August of 2002. The library currently has about 200,000 volumes and the collection is growing rapidly. The law librarians and staff are committed to providing a high level of service to the students and faculty of the College of Law, as well as to assisting the FIU community, the local bar and the general public. The full-time staff of ten includes five professional librarians and the library director.

In addition to our collection, the Library houses group study rooms, a computer lab, carrels, and connections for laptops. Students have access to the Library’s electronic resources, including the web-based library catalog, subscription databases, and selected Internet resources.

While the FIU College of Law Library does not endorse any particular product, we do have an interest in informing our students about research tools that may be helpful.  FIU Law does not distribute or provide support for these products, and all trademarks are the property of their respective owners.  However, for those students who have Apple iPhones, two Apps have become available that may be useful.

Please Note: The following links will attempt to launch the iTunes application.  These Apps are currently only available from the Apple iTunes Store - though at this time they are free to download.

  • LexisNexis Get Cases and Shepardize App - as the name suggests this allows a user with a valid LexisNexis password to get cases and Shepardize them.
  • iSSRN App - provides instant access to the latest SSRN research in the SSRN eLibrary from scholars around the World.

The FIU College of Law Library is open to guests doing legal research, but some restrictions are observed.
