RECEPTION TO FOLLOW ON 2D FLOOR, RAFAEL DIAZ-BALART HALL In 2021, Professors Matthew Mirow and Howard Wasserman published Painting Constitutional Law: Xavier Cortada’s Images of Constitutional Rights, a collection of essays analyzing Cortada’s paintings and the legal cases that inspired them. Cortada produced three new paintings, expanding the collection to ten, as part of the project.
This program celebrates Cortada’s work, the authors, and Florida’s contributions to American constitutional law.
Speakers:
Xavier Cortada. A Miami-based artist, whose work has been displayed across six continents, including more than 150 public displays, installations, collaborative murals, and socially engaged projects.
Jenny Carroll. Wiggins, Childs, Quinn & Pantazis Professor of Law at the University of Alabama School of Law and author of What’s In a Number? Jury Function and Jury Numbers, analyzing Williams v. Florida (1970).
