The Florida Board of Bar Examiners administers the bar exam twice a year, with most graduates choosing to take the exam in July. The statewide first-time passage rate for Florida law schools on the July 2023 exam was 73.7% and for all first-time test takers was 71.6%. At FIU Law, 91.1% of graduates passed on their first attempt. A total of 2,163 examinees took the July 2023 exam. This is the ninth consecutive year that FIU Law graduates have placed first in the state.
“FIU Law graduates through perseverance, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence continue to triumph on their licensure exam,” said Dean Antony Page. “The education they receive here from our dedicated faculty provides the foundation for success not only on the bar exam, but much more importantly, for fulfilling legal careers.
FIU Law has exceeded the statewide average on every bar exam since July 2015. Its cumulative 87% first-time passing rate during that span also ranks first among all Florida law schools.
The latest bar exam results are the most recent in a series of accolades for the College of Law. In May, the College was ranked No. 60 among the nation’s law schools (No. 3 in Florida and no. 32 among public schools) by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, The National Jurist ranked the College as one of the nation’s best value law schools at #17.
The College will host a swearing-in ceremony for its graduates on Monday, September 18th.
