The Florida Board of Bar Examiners administers the bar exam twice a year, with fewer graduates choosing to take the exam in February. At 48.3%, the statewide passage rate for the Florida law schools on the February 2023 exam was among the lowest in recent memory. In contrast, 72.2% of FIU Law graduates passed on their first attempt. A total of 678 examinees took the February 2023 exam.
“This most recent bar exam was a particularly challenging one, even accounting for the high variability sometimes seen with smaller cohorts of examinees,” said Dean Antony Page. “Nonetheless, the education FIU Law provides our graduates continues to prepare them for success on their licensure exam – and more critically, for fulfilling careers as lawyers.”
FIU Law has exceeded the statewide average on every bar exam since July 2015. Its cumulative 87% first-time passing rate during that span also ranks first among all Florida law schools.
The College will host a swearing-in ceremony for its graduates on Tuesday, April 11th.
