The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), Miami Chapter, recently awarded its 2017 Scholarship in Trial Advocacy to FIU Trial Team member, and recent College of Law graduate, Elroy M. John, Jr., at a ceremony in Coral Gables.
ABOTA, a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the constitutional right to the civil jury trial, bestows its annual scholarship in recognition of tremendous law student potential as a trial lawyer combined with the commitment to excellence required of great legal storytelling.
While in school, Elroy earned the Book Award in Trial Advocacy, received the inaugural Alex Alvarez Scholarship in Trial Advocacy, and led two FIU Trial Teams to victory, winning the championship in both the Hon. Chester H. Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition, sponsored by the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar, and the Hon. E. Earle Zehmer Memorial Mock Trial Competition, sponsored by the Florida Justice Association.
Elroy is currently studying for the Florida Bar Examination, after which he joins Redavid Law, PLLC, as an associate.
