On November 8 and 9, FIU Law Trial Team members made their way to Tampa, Florida to compete in the Honorable E. Earle Zehmer Mock Trial Competition. Fourteen teams from seven Florida law schools competed, including Stetson, the University of Florida, Florida State and the University of Miami.
In the preliminary rounds, FIU Law racked up convincing wins against Florida State and Nova. Team members Tiffany Blackmon, Gilberto Lacayo, Rodrigo Flores Salinas and Christopher Fleites advanced to the semi-final before falling by a narrow margin in a tough fought trial to the University of Florida – the tournament’s runner-up. The team was coached by FIU Law alumni David Baroff and Igor Hernandez, along with Kristen A. Corpion. In addition to the semi-finalists, commendations go out to team members Jennise Acosta, Jonathan Hoffman, Samuel Cili and Pamela Flores.
