On the occasion of its 35th anniversary in Washington, D.C., the National Bar Institute recently honored Professor H.T. Smith with its prestigious Leadership Award for establishing ENDOWMENT 2000, which raised $1 million in financial support for the educational and philanthropic programs of the National Bar Association.
The National Bar Institute (NBI) was founded in 1982 by the members of the National Bar Association (NBA), the oldest and largest professional organization of lawyers and judges of color in the world, and shares the same passion and commitment for advancing minorities in the legal profession by promoting research, education, and study.
Professor Smith is a Past President of the NBA and the founding director of the FIU College of Law Law Trial Advocacy Program.
