For the first time in its 13 year history, the FIU Law Intramural Moot Court Competition final round will be argued before the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee, Florida. The two teams will present their respective cases on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
The case presents Fourth Amendment and Fifth Amendment issues surrounding the United States’ use of advanced technology. Representing the Petitioner are Alexis Hishmeh and Amber Plugge, and for the Respondent are Kristen Catasus and Lynne Wilkerson. These students reached the final after advancing through four rounds of intramural competitions held at FIU Law.
“Few attorneys have the opportunity to argue before the Florida Supreme Court,” said FIU Law Dean R. Alexander Acosta. “To get that opportunity as a second-year law student is both a great challenge and a reward for their hard work and dedication. I have no doubt that they will impress the Justices.”
