Congratulations to FIU Law alumnus Khaleel Martin (J.D. ’23) who started his clerkship at the Southern District of Florida this month. As a judicial clerk, Khaleel will attend hearings and trials with a federal judge, draft orders and opinions for the Court, and analyze memoranda and case law. He expressed his motivation for the role, saying “The experience gained from a federal clerkship is invaluable. It allows me to assist the judge in formulating an unbiased analysis of the law and expand my knowledge of the law while doing so.”
Khaleel stated that his time at FIU Law provided the “foundation of all the tools and connections” needed to excel in his legal career. During his time as a student, he served as President of the Sports, Entertainment, Fashion, and Art Law Society (SEFA), was an Office of Admissions Student Ambassador, was a member of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), and was also a mentor of the FIU Law Pre-Law Path Program. His accomplishments as a student earned him with the Faculty Recognition Award, which is awarded to only two students, as voted on by professors, on exceptional contributions to FIU Law.
“I am always thankful for the overwhelming support and wisdom provided by professors and alum,” Khaleel said. “The FIU Law community is truly a family.”
