Artificial intelligence is reshaping legal practice, and FIU Law is working to ensure students are prepared for that shift.
The FIU Law AI Task Force, which brings together faculty, law librarians, administrators, and students, was created to guide the College of Law’s approach to AI in legal education. Its work has focused on responsible use, innovation in teaching and learning, and the ethical and professional responsibilities that come with emerging technologies.
A key part of that effort has been the FIU Law Library. The Library recently expanded its Faculty Guide to Artificial Intelligence with suggested syllabus language and customizable policy templates, giving faculty practical tools to set expectations for AI use while helping students understand the professional obligations surrounding these technologies.
Looking ahead to Fall 2026, FIU Law will consider a comprehensive Legal Technology Curriculum designed to integrate AI and legal technology competencies throughout the student experience.
The College is also moving forward with a partnership through the Clio Academic Access Program that will provide law school-wide access to Vincent AI and Docket Alarm through FIU Law’s existing vLex Fastcase platform. The partnership will give students experience with tools that more closely reflect those available in practice, including the vLex Fastcase environment available to members of The Florida Bar.
FIU Law is also participating in LexisNexis’ Bridge the Gap program, which brings law schools and legal practitioners together to discuss practice readiness and the evolving role of AI in the profession.
