FIU College of Law welcomed a new class of students this fall, marking another milestone in the College’s continued growth and national profile. The Class of 2029 enters an FIU Law community with a longstanding commitment to student success, career preparation, bar readiness, and experiential learning. Through clinics, externships, pro bono service, advocacy competitions, and other hands-on opportunities, students develop practical skills and connect classroom learning with the realities of legal practice.
Now in its third decade, FIU Law continues to build on a record of academic achievement, student opportunity, and a growing national recognition. The strength of this year’s entering class reflects that trajectory. The 1L J.D. Class of 2029 is the most academically accomplished entering class in FIU Law history. The class of 171 students enters with a median LSAT score of 162 and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.84, establishing new institutional records in both measures.
“Every record this class broke is a signal that the nation's most talented future lawyers are choosing our law school,” said Interim Dean Daniel Z. Epstein. “FIU Law did not admit them to blend into the profession; we admitted them to improve it, and FIU is where they will learn how to do just that.”
The class was selected during the most competitive admissions cycle in the College’s history. FIU Law received more than 3,300 applications, up from approximately 3,100 the previous year, while its admission rate fell below 16 percent.
“We are extremely proud of our 2026 entering class,” said Alma O. Miró, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. “It is the most academically competitive class since FIU Law welcomed its first students in 2002, and its members bring a remarkable breadth of professional, personal, and life experiences that will enrich classroom discussions and strengthen our community.”
The Class of 2029 also reflects FIU Law’s increasingly broad reach, with students representing 13 states and 19 countries, 37 undergraduate institutions, and 46 academic majors.
As these students begin their legal education, they join a growing community of alumni, faculty, and partners across the legal profession who continue to shape FIU Law’s next chapter.
