Why FIU Law?
I chose FIU Law mainly because of how connected it is to the South Florida legal community. Since I’m interested in land use, municipal, and environmental law, that was really important to me. South Florida is a place where you constantly see the tension between development, growth, and the environment, and I wanted to study law somewhere that is actually experiencing and addressing those issues—not just talking about them in a classroom.
I started FIU Law as a part-time student, and honestly, I was surprised by how much I came to appreciate the culture here. Everyone works hard, but it doesn’t feel like you’re just another number. The administration genuinely cares about the students, and the alumni are still very involved and connected to the school. That sense of community means a lot to me. And, of course, being able to stay close to home and still have access to my mom’s cooking definitely doesn’t hurt.
My favorite thing about FIU Law?
The food variety from all of the events, I am a foodie lol so it helps.
