Biography
Ivan Parron teaches Entertainment Law and Sports Law at FIU College of Law, drawing on an active practice that spans professional and collegiate sports, music, film and television, and emerging technology. He is the founder and Chief Legal + AI Officer of PARRON LAW, a boutique entertainment, sports, and technology firm with offices in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. For more than two decades, he has represented athletes, recording artists, studios, leagues, teams and global brands as a strategic advisor in the deals and disputes that shape careers and organizations across the creative economy.
Professor Parron came to law from technology. He began his career as a software engineer and in the 1990s founded Ritmoteca.com, one of the world's first online music stores, negotiating some of the earliest digital distribution agreements with the major record companies. The Atlantic later credited Ritmoteca as a precursor to Apple iTunes, launching several years before it. He went on to serve as in-house counsel at Universal Music Group during the industry's shift to the digital marketplace before returning to private practice.
That blend of engineering, entrepreneurship, and law now anchors his artificial intelligence practice. He advises companies, executives, and organizations on AI governance, intellectual property, and data ownership, focusing on frameworks that let organizations adopt AI while protecting proprietary information and institutional knowledge. He speaks regularly at national and international conferences on AI and the law of innovation.
Billboard has named Professor Parron a Top Music Attorney, and he has been recognized by Best Lawyers and by Super Lawyers in Florida and New York. Martindale-Hubbell rates him AV Preeminent. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Sports Lawyers Association, is a former Grammy Governor of the Recording Academy, and chaired the Florida Bar's Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section. He has been certified as an athlete agent and contract advisor by the NFL, NBA and the NCAA, and under his leadership PARRON LAW has repeatedly been recognized among the nation's Top 100 sports law firms. He is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, and the District of Columbia.
A two-time FIU graduate, Professor Parron earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the FIU College of Business and his J.D. as a member of the FIU College of Law's inaugural graduating class in 2005. The FIU Alumni Association has honored him with the Charles E. Perry Visionary Torch Award.
