Biography
Professor Arun Upadhyay is the Knight-Ridder Eminent Scholar Endowment Chair and Professor of Finance at Florida International University (FIU), where he teaches and conducts research in corporate finance, banking, financial institutions, corporate governance, sustainability, and risk management. Prior to joining academia, he built an extensive career in the banking industry, holding managerial positions in commercial banking, international banking, and corporate lending. His industry experience spans credit analysis, trade finance, foreign exchange, international banking operations, and relationship management, providing him with deep practical insights into financial markets and banking practices. This combination of banking experience and academic scholarship enables him to bridge theory with practice in both the classroom and executive education programs.
Professor Upadhyay's research focuses on corporate governance, climate and environmental risk, sustainable finance, banking, executive compensation, ESG, artificial intelligence in finance, and international corporate finance. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals and has been widely cited by researchers around the world, reflecting its impact on both academic literature and business practice. He has taught undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, specialized master's, and doctoral courses, and regularly collaborates with industry leaders, policymakers, and financial institutions on research, executive training, and capacity-building initiatives.
