College of Law Graduates Excel on Florida Bar Exam

FIU Law continued its tradition of excellence in preparing graduates for law practice, with 89.3% of first-time takers passing the July 2025 Florida bar exam. The result exceeded the statewide average passing rate by 10.9 percentage points and ranked the College of Law first among all South Florida law schools.

“Since its founding, FIU Law has taken seriously its role as the only publicly supported law school in Florida’s most populated region,” said Interim Dean Michelle D. Mason. “Academic rigor and practice-ready skills training are rooted in our culture, and our graduates’ track record of success in preparing for the bar exam reflects those institutional values. Associate Deans Louis Schulze and Raul Ruiz respectively have developed world-class academic excellence and bar exam preparation programs, and when combined with our entire faculty’s commitment to excellence in teaching, produces graduates who enter the profession ready to make positive contributions from their first day on the job."

Although the Florida Board of Bar Examiners offers the exam every February and July, most law school graduates sit for the July administration. Over the past three years, FIU Law has been the only Florida law school with a first-time passage rate of 89% or higher on each July exam.

Since 2015, the College’s cumulative first-time bar passage rate also ranks #1 in Florida; of the nearly 1,500 graduates who have taken the exam, 88% have passed on their first attempt.
