Richard Brener

Biography

Professor Richard Brener practiced in both California and Florida for over 35 years, focusing on complex litigation and appeals. He has many years of experience in representing plaintiffs and defendants in all aspects of litigation from researching and working up the operative pleadings, planning and conducting extensive discovery, negotiating agreements, preparing dispositive motions or responses, and presenting arguments to the court at both the trial and appellate levels. He has worked on cases as varied as the litigation and investigations arising out of the massive oil spill of the Exxon Valdez in Prince William Sound, Alaska, challenges to the intellectual property of computer and high-tech companies, securities class actions, and advising Twentieth Century Fox on broadcast and first amendment standards. Professor Brener has also assisted in complex cases pending before several international arbitral bodies. During his years of practice, Professor Brener has had the good fortune and privilege to work with, and learn from, extremely intelligent, talented, and professional attorneys. As a visiting professor/adjunct professor at Florida International University, Professor Brener brings his experience and the skills and wisdom gleaned from his years of practice to LSV II, LSV III, and LSI.
