FIU Law graduates achieved one of the best Florida Bar Exam results of the past decade on the July 2024 exam, with 90.5% of first-time takers passing the test on their first attempt. The impressive feat ranked FIU Law second among all law schools, and within one passing taker of ranking #1 for a tenth consecutive July examination.

“Our graduates approach their licensure exam with the same level of attentiveness, tenacity, and professionalism with which they approach our program of legal education,” said Dean and FIU Foundation Professor of Law Antony Page. “Our Bar Exam Success Program faculty, led by Associate Deans Raul Ruiz and Louis Schulze and Professor Erin Loeb, often tell our graduates that there is no substitute for doing the difficult work. We all are pleased to see their efforts rewarded.”

The Honorable Marcia Del Rey, J.D. ‘05, administered the Florida Bar Oath of Attorney during the College’s swearing-in ceremony for graduates, held on Monday, September 23rd at Rafael Díaz-Balart Hall.

Since July 2019, the average statewide pass rate on the Florida Bar Exam has ranged from 54% to 76%. During that same time, just two law schools have surpassed the 90% bar pass barrier: FIU Law (three times) and the University of Florida (once). FIU Law’s cumulative first-time bar pass rate of 87% since 2015 ranks it #1 among all Florida law schools.

“Over the past decade, FIU Law has helped well over 1,000 of our graduates pass the bar exam on their first attempt, and at a rate higher than most other law schools in the country,” said Page. “This sustained excellence is a testament to their abilities, and to the quality of training they receive from our tremendous faculty and staff.”

FIU Law ranks as the #1 law school in South Florida and #37 among all public law schools nationally according to U.S. News & World Report, which recently ranked FIU #1 in the nation for social mobility, a ranking that measures graduates’ ability to use their degrees to launch careers and move up the economic ladder.
