Professor Mirow has published a chapter entitled “Spanish Law and its Expansion” in The Oxford Handbook of European Legal History 782-805 (Pihlajamäki, Dubber & Godfrey, eds., Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2018). Part of a new standard reference work in the field, the chapter addresses the nature of Spanish colonial law, the use of law in discovery and conquest, indigenous peoples, enslaved humans, labor, institutions, sources, and legal actors.
