Professor M.C. Mirow has been awarded a Summer Visiting Research Fellowship at the University of Texas, Austin. He will use the university’s extensive collection of materials on Mexican law to study the intellectual origins of the social function of property in the Mexican Constitution of 1917. Dr. Marisol Floren Romero, the College of Law’s Assistant Director of Library Services and Foreign & International Law Librarian, contributed substantially to Mirow’s proposal by compiling sources and materials related to this project. Through the U.S. Department of Education, the fellowship provides funding for travel and accommodation during his research in Austin. Mirow will present his findings later this year in Veracruz, Mexico, and Lille, France. Mirow’s first book, Latin American Law: A History of Private Law and Institutions in Spanish America, was published by the University of Texas Press.

Professor Mirow is a founding faculty of FIU College of Law and member of the Florida Bar. He publishes on legal history and property. To read Professor Mirow’s works, visit his Selected Works gallery.
