Professor Jorge Esquirol announces the publication of his book, Ficções do Direito Latino-Americano, in Brazil by Editores Saraiva. The book explores the two main traditions of comparative legal writing on Latin America: the European-legal-family tradition and the economic-development-reforms tradition. Professor Esquirol’s argument is that each reflects a different paradigm of  legal evolution and law reform. However, they also indirectly undermine the legitimacy of national law in the region and threaten the very reform projects they generate.

Saraiva is the main academic press in Brazil.  Copies of this Portuguese-language book can be obtained at the following website: http://www.saraiva.com.br/ficcoes-do-direito-latino-americano-col-teoria-e-historia-do-direito-9341436.html
