On October 28, 2014, Professor Charles C. Jalloh was the moderator of the opening public plenary panel for the Children and International Criminal Justice Conference convened by the University of Georgia, School of Law, in close collaboration with the Office of the Prosecutor, International Criminal Court (ICC). The keynote speech was given by the Honorable Fatou Bensouda, the ICC’s Chief Prosecutor. More than a dozen leading academic and practitioner experts on children’s rights, international criminal law and transitional justice issues participated in the closed afternoon sessions. The in-depth discussions, which also featured senior trial attorneys from the ICC, were aimed at contributing ideas towards development of the first ever ICC Prosecutor’s Policy Paper on Children. Professor Diane Amann, holder of the Emily and Ernest Woodruff Chair in International Law and the Prosecutor’s Special Adviser on Children in and affected by Armed Conflict, is leading the initiative and invited FIU Law’s Professor Jalloh to participate.
