Professor H.T. Smith lectured on advanced theories and mechanics of cross-examination to 200 lawyers and judges during a Trial Skills Boot Camp sponsored by the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of theNational Bar Association.
Professor Smith’s presentation, “Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee,” was geared to assist the roomful of criminal and civil justice advocates to better use cross-examination as a means to advance their case theories, damage their opponents’ case theories, and attack the bias and credibility of witnesses.
“Cross-examination is the epitome of trial advocacy,” Professor Smith said to the crowd, “and stands alone as the art form of the trial advocate.”
The National Bar Association Trial Skills Boot Camp was held as part of the annual meeting of The Florida Bar in Orlando.
