As part of the Annual Meetings of The Florida Bar, held in mid-June 2016, Professor H. Scott Fingerhut made the opening presentation in the featured continuing legal education Presidential Showcase Seminar, The 50 Years of Miranda, sponsored by the Criminal Law Section.

Professor Fingerhut’s segment, on how Miranda “Changed Our World,” began the afternoon by taking the audience of lawyers and judges through decades of the key Supreme Court cases, configurations, and rationales — from due process to the right to counsel — culminating in the Warren Court’s controversial Fifth Amendment decision in 1966 in Miranda.

Professor Fingerhut is a past chair of the Bar’s Criminal Law Section and currently chairs the Criminal Procedure Rules Committee.
