Professor Cyra Akila Choudhury gave the inaugural lecture in the University of Windsor‘s Transnational Law and Justice Network’s “Borders, Boundaries, and Intersections” speaker series. Her talk “Property Lawfare: Land Use and Zoning from Segregation to the Prevention of Mosque Building” explores the use of property law and legal institutions and processes to express social disapproval of Muslims, the link between current forms of Islamophobia and history of the social practices of segregation, and the distributional costs of anti-mosque activism and segregation.
