FIU Law now ranks among the top fifty public law schools in America, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best Law School Rankings. The College rose to #47 among public law schools in the publication’s annual law school rankings.

“Today’s news is a recognition of the College’s growing stature,” said Dean Antony Page. “While far from the only measure of a law school’s qualities, these rankings confirm what other data points illustrate: from faculty scholarship to student and alumni success, FIU Law is emerging as a force in the legal profession.”

The College’s students and graduates have made headlines in recent months on a number of fronts. In February, the FIU Board of Appellate Advocates had another impressive showing at the 60th Annual Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court United States Regional Tournament, where they earned a third-place finish and were one vote away from advancing to the international rounds of competition. In December, Scheril Murray Powell ‘15 was named the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ federal affairs director.

U.S. News & World Report also awarded high marks to some of the College’s specialty programs. Its part-time program ranked #37 nationally, and its international law program ranked #78. The Legal Skills & Values program – which provides students with a rigorous analytical experience over a three-semester curriculum – ranked #75 nationally.

Earlier this academic year, the College also earned an A+ rating in preLaw magazine’s 2019 Most Diverse Law Schools rankings, a #17 ranking in The National Jurist’s Best Value Law Schools, and a 126-150 ranking in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings for law.
