An FIU College of Law Negotiation team has again won an ABA Regional Negotiation Championship. This year, three FIU teams traveled to the New York City Regional and competed against 21 other negotiation teams from law schools in the New York City area.

Cindy Hoskin and Ghita Sebti were named Champions, defeating a team from Columbia Law School in the final round. The two other teams, comprised of Adam Abecassis and Mike McCormick, and Jenny Guardia and Kellyn Doyle, also performed well, with Mr. Abecassis and Mr. Mcormick finishing third in the Competition.

This is the fifth consecutive year that FIU Law has won an ABA Negotiation Regional Championship. Last year, FIU won the ABA Southeast Regional. In 2014, three FIU teams swept the ABA Southeast Regional, finishing as Champions, Runner-Ups, and Second Runner-Up. In 2013, the FIU teams captured both the Championship and Runner-Up honors at the ABA Regionals, and in 2012 the FIU Negotiation Team won the ABA Regionals.

FIU Law Negotiation teams have now won an ABA Regional Negotiation Championship 8 of the last 10 years, and FIU has placed at least two teams in the Final Four 3 times in the past 5 years.

The Championship team of Ms. Hoskin and Ms. Sebti now advance to the ABA National Negotiation Finals, hosted in Chicago in February 2017. This marks the 11th time in 13 years that FIU has advanced a team to the ABA National Negotiation Finals.
