FIU College of Law graduates have again earned the highest bar passage of any of Florida’s 11 law schools for the third consecutive July bar examination.  With a passage rate of 87.8%, FIU Law’s students surpassed the statewide average passage rate of 71.3% by 16.5 percentage points.  This accomplishment follows FIU Law’s alumni obtaining an 87.5% pass rate on the July 2016 exam and an 89% pass rate on the July 2015 bar exam, each being the highest in Florida.

The Florida Supreme Court also recognized Laura Maxwell ’17 from FIU Law, as one of the state’s highest achievers on the exam, and invited her to deliver an address at the Court’s Fall Ceremony for the Induction of Candidates for Admission to the Florida Bar.

“FIU prides itself on being Worlds Ahead,” said Tawia Ansah, Acting Dean of the FIU College of Law. “Our students are entering the legal profession prepared for the challenges ahead. Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to ensure our students have all the resources they need for the bar exam and for their careers as attorneys. We would again like to thank the faculty for their dedication and teaching skills. I especially would like to thank Prof. Raul Ruiz, who is our Director of Bar Exam Preparation, and Assistant Dean Louis Schulze for the wonderful bar exam preparation programs they have compiled. These programs are years ahead in their design and implementation. Lastly, I would like to thank our graduates for the countless hours they invested into their education and preparation. We wish them all the best as they begin their new journey as attorneys.”

The Florida Bar Swearing-In Ceremony took place on September 19, 2017 in the large courtroom where our graduates were sworn in by Senior Judge Phyllis Kotey. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the atrium with family and loved ones. You can view photos from the Ceremony by clicking “here.”
