Elisa Quesada is an attorney and licensed clinical social worker. She has more than 15 years’ experience working with children, families and adults in a variety of clinical and legal settings. Ms. Quesada has consulted on both civil and criminal cases involving intellectual, clinical and medical issues as they relate to sentencing.
Ms. Quesada is a Mitigation Specialist in FIU Law’s Death Penalty Clinic. She consults with attorneys and mitigation specialists on death penalty cases across Florida, and provides statewide trainings on mitigation development and presentation.
Ms. Quesada has held numerous positions at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. She has served as a mitigation specialist for both adults and juveniles within the felony system. Ms. Quesada worked as a mitigation specialist exclusively with capital clients for more than six years. She was a member of the team that created the nationally recognized Juvenile Sentencing Advocacy Program (JSAP), which outlined juvenile advocacy and sentencing techniques for direct filed juveniles. She has served as both the Coordinator of the Mitigation and Placement Unit, and as the Training Coordinator of Mitigation Specialists where she developed overall trainings on mitigation practice office wide.
