Danilo Castillo manages and oversees all fiscal, administrative, and human resources functions for both FIU Law and the Legal Studies Institute.
Mr. Castillo has more than 15 years of professional experience in management, operations, finance and accounting within private, public and university settings including United Parcel Service (UPS), Johnson & Johnson (Finance and Tax Department), PricewaterhouseCoopers and Florida International University.
Mr. Castillo is a Harvard Business School alumnus, completing the Program for Leadership Development- P.L.D.– Harvard’s alternative to the Executive MBA. He graduated with honors from both the Executive Masters of Science in Taxation and the Bachelor of Accounting programs at Florida International University, and is certified in strategic financial analyses, strategic management, and performance measurement by Harvard Business School.
Castillo is an active member of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association and NACUBO – National Association of College and University Business Officers (University CFOs). In 2013, Florida International University’s Senior Vice President and CFO Kenneth Jessell nominated Castillo for the 2013 NACUBO Rising Star Award, which he was awarded. The Rising Star Award recognizes the potential of a finance executive for the university CFO level.
Castillo is also an active member of the worldwide IMA organization (Institute of Management Accountants) and was nominated for the IMA 2014 Young Professional Award. He is also an active member of the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting) and Beta Alpha Psi (International Honors Accounting Fraternity).
In addition, Mr. Castillo provides guest lectures in area topics, such as forensic accounting for the Corporate Compliance Program offered by FIU Law and the FIU College of Business.
During his free time, Mr. Castillo conducts accounting consulting work for client organizations. Castillo is also a committee member of Harvard Alumni Club of South Florida’s “Community Partners Program,” which provides local organizations with pro bono consulting advice within the Miami area.
