NEW DOCUMENTS ADDED

 More than 160 immigration reports by the GAO have been added of the Immigration Law & Policy in the U.S. database on HeinOnline’s GAO Reports database contains reports on audits, surveys, investigations, and evaluations of federal programs conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). All published reports, testimonies, correspondence, and special publications are included (with the exception of restricted or classified documents). For the user’s convenience, HeinOnline has now compiled GAO Reports relevant to immigration within its Immigration Law & Policy database.

ABOUT THE GAO
Headed by the Comptroller General of the United States, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) is a legislative branch agency which provides auditing, evaluation, and investigative services for the U.S. Congress. Formerly known as the Government Accounting Office, the GAO was established by the Budget and Accounting Act of 1921. This Act required the GAO to “investigate, at the seat of government or elsewhere, all matters related to the receipt, disbursement, and application of public funds, and shall make to the President and to Congress reports and recommendations looking to greater economy of efficiency in public expenditures.”

ABOUT IMMIGRATION LAW AND POLICY IN THE U.S.
Since the database was released in 2013, nearly 3,000 volumes, 2,500 titles, and more than 400,000 pages were added! The database now contains more than 470 CRS Reports, 870 hearings, and 65 Supreme Court briefs. A subcollection on Extradition, which contains Igor Kavass’s valuable reference set Extradition Laws and Treaties, was also added. Additionally, the following two completed publications from the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants were made available:

Users can also search the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) Precedent Decisions, which includes the most current opinions and decisions of the U.S. Department of Justice concerning immigration policy and practice, by decision number or by using the A-Z title index.

This database continues to grow each month. Log in now to access acts and their legislative histories, law and policy titles, extradition titles, hearings, CRS Reports, Supreme Court briefs, scholarly articles, and other related works.
