New Practice Center: Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility

The new home of the ABA/Bloomberg Law Lawyer’s Manual on Professional Responsibility, this practice center contains both ABA and state bar ethics resources, including ethics opinions, rules, practice guides, and treatises.  Each state has its own ethics practice page.  In addition, Legal Ethics News provides real time news developments and commentary, along with the ability to subscribe to a customizable newsletter.

Enhanced Practice Center: Environmental & Safety

The Environmental & Safety Practice Center has been reorganized and enhanced with new tools and resources, including the new Federal & State Regulatory Tracker, and comprehensive chart builders and practical guidance.

Enhanced: Transactional Intelligence Center

Formerly titled “Corporate and Transactional Resources”, the Transactional Intelligence center has been reorganized to make it easier to get to our world class transactional tools.

Enhanced: News Searching and Newsletter Customization

The Bloomberg Law News service has been enhanced with additional search options and newsletter customization options.  When running a search on a Bloomberg Law News channel, clicking on “Select Sources” next to the search bar will open an advanced search interface.  This will allow searches based on fields like state or jurisdiction, topic, statute involved, etc.  The options vary based for each news channel.  Likewise, newsletter subscription options have improved, allowing similarly customized newsletters.  For example, it is now possible set up a subscription in the US Law Week to receive alerts whenever a new weekly issue of “Supreme Court Today” is released.

New USC and CFR redlining tool

The “versioning” tool available on USC and CFR sections that have been amended in the past 10 years now allows redlining and side by side comparisons of new and old section text.  Example section: 26 USC 1

Hundreds of New Practical Guidance Documents

Our editors and outside experts have been hard a work producing hundreds of new Practical Guidance documents, such as overviews, timelines, checklists, and sample forms.  Examples include step-by-step guides to conducting a Corporate Spinoff; Transferring Venue and Section 636 Asset Sales in Bankruptcy; Preparing for Strikes and Lockouts and Taking Oral Depositions in Labor & Employment.  Developing Practical Guidance is a major priority for Bloomberg Law: since the beginning of 2018, we have created over 4,000 Practical Guidance documents.

New In Focus Pages

Bloomberg Law’s In Focus pages keep track of hot and developing topics in the law.  They collect not just the latest news, but also related primary and secondary content, and other special tools to aid understanding and researching in the developing area of law.  Six new In Focus pages are now available, including: Legislation on Criminal Use of Fintech; NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulations; Current Expected Credit Losses; ERISA Litigation; the Gig Economy; and the California Consumer Privacy Act

New Chart Builders

The interface for Bloomberg Law’s federal and state law Chart Builders has improved, and our editors have added six new chart builders, including in Banking & Finance: General lending: Compliance Issues; General Lending: Fees; Student Loan Servicers; and in Health Care: Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice; Physician Assistant Scope of Practice; Certificates of Need.
