Biography

Lisa Davis is Assistant Dean for Legal Information Services and Director of the FIU Law Library. She develops and manages the Law Library’s resources, including content creation and provision of technologically innovative digital services. Ms. Davis is responsible for disseminating the scholarly products of FIU Law faculty and students through FIU Law’s institutional repository, eCollections @ FIU Law Library. She is head of the Digital Initiatives Center at the FIU Law Library, overseeing the Library’s digital curation operations and services. She also provides reference and research support services.

Prior to joining the FIU College of Law, Ms. Davis was a reference librarian and branch manager at the Miami-Dade Public Library System. She is a member of the Florida Bar. Ms. Davis represented the State of Florida as an Assistant Attorney General in capital and criminal appeals and served as a Trial Court Staff Attorney for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She has experience in legal research and scholarship on a wide range of topics, was an editor for the Florida Journal of International Law and drafted judicial training materials. Ms. Davis’ other academic and professional pursuits include serving as a grant reviewer for the Institute of Museum and Library Services, developing online tutorials for database instruction, and social media marketing. Her interests include developing online resources to support academic scholarship, instructing students and faculty in Law Practice Technology tools and competencies, and increasing information literacy through digital technologies.
