Alumni Association Committee Service Opportunities

Fundraising– This Committee is dedicated to reviewing existing fundraising methods and recommending and implementing changes to those methods. Committee members will engage in the coordination and execution of actual fundraising activities such as  Casino Night, the Dean’s Circle Giving Drive and the class giving competition.

Activities– This committee is dedicated to planning and implementing a variety of educational, social, and cultural activities to serve alumni (both locally and nationally) as well as the current student body. Members will assist in planning  events including happy hours, the holiday party, among others.

Communications– This committee is dedicated to assisting in the official communications of the Alumni Board. Members will assist in the development of monthly job blasts and newsletters.

Community Outreach – This Committee is dedicated to planning service-oriented activities and programs designed to provide service to FIU Law and the community.

Mentoring and Student Relations– This Committee is dedicated to assisting FIU Law in the development and implementation of a comprehensive alumni-student mentoring program and will assist in the coordination of joint FIU Law/Alumni Association Events such as the annual speed networking event, the homecoming mixer and spring mixer.

Growth and Expansion– This Committee is dedicated to assisting in the development of future alumni association chapters outside Miami-Dade County. This committee will also assist in the planning and coordination of events in areas interested in forming a new chapters as well as assist in planning of outreach events beyond Miami-Dade County.

Public Interest Attorney Section– This Committee is dedicated to addressing the issues and needs of those alumni who are or who have previously served in the public interest sector including the SAO/PD offices, state and federal agencies, judicial clerkships, legal aid, among others. The Committee will assist in the development of an alumni/alumni mentoring program linking former and current public interest and government attorneys. This Committee is ideal for those who have or currently serve in public interest/government agency work.

Class Liaisons– This Committee is dedicated to connecting with current students in an effort to bond with them during their time at FIU Law. These individuals will encourage and inspire students to attend Alumni Association events; participate in the Dean’s Circle Giving; and to continue their relationship with FIU Law and the Association following graduation.
