Fall 2016 Event

In the words of the court, “this case is a tragedy – in every sense of the word.”

On March 25, 2010, with scissors from his backpack, then-FIU student Quentin Wyche stabbed, and killed, fellow FIU student Kendall Berry.

On September 11, 2013, a jury found Wyche guilty of second degree murder.

On November 25, 2013, the court sentenced Wyche to 20 years in prison plus 5 years’ probation.

A Notice of Appeal was filed on December 16, 2013.

The Third District Court of Appeal affirmed the conviction and sentence with a written opinion on August 7, 2015.

On August 19, 2016, Wyche filed a Motion to Mitigate Sentence.

That motion is scheduled to be heard at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016.
